There’s a rock band over here called “Wolf Mother” – that pretty much describes me during the first 6 months or so of child number 3’s life! He was not only a colicky baby – he slept in 15 minute catnaps! If we got a total of 4-6 hours in 24 we thought we were lucky. His dad and I took turns walking the floor at night – so that old classic “Strangers in the Night” applied to us! (He turned out great in the end.)

My colicky one was number one, so I like to give myself a gold medal for bravery for taking the risk of having a second one. It’s been all downhill from there (in the good, coasting kind of way)–my once colicky kid (now age 11) now sits and reads quietly for hours at a time!! It was a humbling experience for me, though, having a constantly crying baby and not being able to do anything about it. Wolf Mother was I, but getting cut down a few notches in the pride department was probably better for everybody!
