Thankful again…is she MAD?

mad-men_lYou know what July means…one more month until season 3 of Mad Men. Will Don Draper finally pack up from Sterling Cooper, grow out his slick black hair, and open a taco stand in Bethany Beach? Your guess is as good as mine. I’m just thankful that the wait is almost over.

What I do know is that I’ll now be watching with an increased sense of pride, because, lo and behold, Mad Men writer/producer Maria Jacquemetton went to my alma mater, Lehigh University. It seems that Jacquemetton and her husband/fellow writer Andre were in a writing group with Matthew Weiner, who, as all Draper fans know, is the man behind MM. Anyway, after stints on Baywatch (I’m not kidding) and Star Trek:Enterprise, Maria and Andre got a call from Weiner, and the rest is ad agency grandstanding history.

In honor of Maria, here are my top 3 Don Draper lines:
1. to Peggy Olsen–“It will shock you how much this never happened.”
2. also to Peggy–“Just think about it. Deeply. Then forget it. And an idea will…jump up in your face.”
3. to prospective clients who seem to be reconsidering–“Listen, I’m not here to tell you about Jesus. You already know about Jesus. Either he lives in your heart, or he doesn’t.”

I’m not familiar with this show but I just have to share one of my favourite lines. An Irish friend to Dieter: “Dieter, you should have been here after you left.” True line!

Hmm, didn’t know Dieter was a time traveller, eh?
