Perennial Hope

daisiesThere’s nothing quite so pompous and possibly self-serving as a non-poet like me trying to write poetry. Still, I dashed off these couple of lines–the first few a couple of years ago, the rest earlier this month.

It’s a drizzly day here in Dover, but nevertheless, enjoy.

Perennial Hope
Greet me by the back door
Bursting with the light
Of a bright summer day

Handfuls of promise
Ripening possibilities
With irresistible optimism

You bloom

Great poem! I esp like the line “handfuls of promise.”

But you forgot thankful thursday!–or maybe you didn’t but I’ve been up since about 2:30 so things seem a little weird now. Yes, that *is* my martyr complex talking.

    So I’m being thankful instead.

Thankful for your help! Thankful for Bob’s tasty egg salad sandwiches (why are yellow foods so comforting?) thankful to escape the house at some point, thankful I have mostly stayed on schedule. For Laurie Berkner and ocean breezes and robins who build nests in funny places. Thankful for my family for putting up with me. Thankful for approaching sleep. Thank God!

No, I haven’t forgotten T’ful T’day. It’s just coming out on Friday this week…or Saturday…which may defeat the purpose, but it’s better than posting something I know will be incoherent. Hopefully I’ll be posting that I’m thankful to have finished reading Harry Potter #5 before I see movie #6!! Stay tuned.

Have a great vacation, A–you deserve it!!!
